چکیده

co2/ch4 gas separation is a very important applicatable process in upgrading the natural gas and landfil gas recovery. in this work, to investigate the membrane separation process performance, the gas permeation results andco2/ch4 separation characteristics of different prepared membranes (via blending different molecular weights of polyethylene glycol (peg) as a modifier with acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (abs) as a backbone structure) have been studied. furthermore, sem analysis was carried out for morphological investigations. the effect of peg content on gas transport properties on the selected sample was also studied. the effect of pressure on co2 permeation was examined and showed that at the pressure beyond 4 bar, permeability is not affected by pressure. the results showed that more or less in all cases, incorporation of peg molecules without any significant increase in ch4 permeability increases the co2/ch4 selectivity. from the view point of gas separation applications the resultant data are within commercial attractive range

Supporting Polyvinylchloride Polymeric Blend Membrane with Coated Woven Fabric

Blend reverse osmosis membranes were fabricated using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with cellulose acetate (CA) as polymer blends. Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) were used as solvents. The membrane polymer solution was cast on a coated woven fabric support material. The prepared membranes have been characterized by SEM and mechanical properties. SEM r...

Separation Efficiency of Epoxified-Polyethersulfone Blend Membrane for Chromium Removal

A microporous bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (DGEBA) epoxified-polyethersulfone (PES) blend membrane (EPES membrane) was prepared through dry-wet phase inversion. This study attempts to correlate the changes in membrane physical and chemical properties when the EPES membranes were exposed to different durations of dry-phase inversion, towards the separation efficiency of carcinogen chromium (VI)....

Study on the fouling behavior of HDPE/PE-g-MA/EVA blend membrane fabricated via thermally induced phase separation method

In this study, neat HDPE and HDPE/PE-g-MA/EVA blend membranes were fabricated via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) method and their fouling behaviors were examined using filtration of BSA protein. Membranes were characterized using FESEM, AFM, ATR-FTIR analyses and porosity measurement. Fouling behavior of membranes was analyzed using the resistance-in-series (RIS), classic and combine...

Impact of Carbon Nanotubes on the ‎Polymeric Membrane for Oil – Water ‎Separation

In this research, the classical phase inversion method was used to produce the polysulfone (PSF) membrane by using three different solvents: N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF), chloroform (CHCL3) and tetrahydrofuran (THF). Furthermore, different concentrations of functionalized multi – walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were added to PSF membranes by the classical phase inversion method...
